How It Works
BeamClamp® Types BT (recessed top) and BW (flat top) are designed with a 10 degree sloping nose to clamp on to tapered steel. Type BT has a recessed top to captivate the head of a grade 5 setscrew or bolt. Type BW has a flat top to allow a nut and washer to be tightened down on it. Types BT and BW structural beam clamps can also be used on their own if one piece of the steel has been pre-drilled. Both clamps are available with two tail lengths, to accommodate the thickness of steel it is clamping to. Packing pieces BF1, BG1 and BH1 can be used in combination with the tail length to achieve a match to the steel flange.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do Type BT/BW clamps have specific tail lengths?
The tail length is used in combination with the thickness of packing shims to ensure the clamp can connect as close to 90 degrees to the steel flange as possible. If you need assistance please contact us.
Do I always have to use Type BT and BW beam clamps together?
No. Type BT or BW can be used on their own when only clamping to one structural steel section. In this situation Type BT is generally used with just one tool. Type BW can be used, using two wrenches for installation.
Which packing pieces can I use with Type BT/BW beam attachments?
The BF1, BG1 and BH1 packing pieces are all designed to work with Type BT/BW Clamps to ensure the clamp is secured as close to 90 degrees onto the steel as possible.
