Challenge: New York Public School 59 was being rebuilt, and this extensive renovation project even included the construction of a new playground installed on the structure’s roof. However, to ensure the safety of children playing on the rooftop playground, safety netting needed to be installed around the perimeter; this way, it wouldn’t be possible for any children to fall or be hurt while playing. One logistical disadvantage of the project was the height of the building; since the netting needed to be attached along the perimeter of the roof, welding would be dangerous and difficult to coordinate at such a height. Needless to say, another solution needed to be figured out.
Solution: For LNA, the conclusion was a simple one: BoxBolts. Using BoxBolts, the brackets meant to secure the netting in place could be safely secured into the tube steel of the roofing structure. This also meant the project was completed cost-effectively, saving a lot of time, two things welding would’ve taken a considerable amount more of. When all was said and done, BoxBolts secured the netting to the school’s roof, allowing people to safely occupy the playground space without fear or risk of falling.
