Challenge: The largest logistic system manufacturer in the United States, Schaefer Systems International specializes in designing and building material storage systems like Warehouses and Material Handling implements. When SSI needed additional structural steel components added to one of their operational warehouses, they looked to LNA for a solution. The task came with some limitations and parameters that made bolting or welding impossible. The clean environment of the warehouse couldn’t be tainted by the debris from drilling and welding, meaning even BoxBolts couldn’t be used. Additionally, the warehouse was going to be fully operational while construction was taking place, meaning whatever connection method was to be used needed to be unobtrusive.
Solution: Since sensitive materials susceptible to fire were being stored at the warehouse, the environment needed to be kept clean and clear of any sparks. The project required finding an attachment method that wouldn’t disturb the normal working environment. LNA Solutions came to BeamClamps to solve this problem, attaching the overhead steel beams by clamping them together from the outside. This non-destructive connection solution satisfied the strict limitations of the job without compromising on the warehouse’s structural integrity or the connection’s strength. This way, the new components could seamlessly be tied into the existing structure.
