SoFi Stadium – Inglewood, California

VideoBoard Mounting

CHALLENGE: SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles is a large sports and entertainment complex known across the country as the stadium that hosts both the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers. Its tenure as a premier destination for major sports events has recently been bolstered by hosting the Super Bowl in 2022, the College Football Championship in 2023, and even the upcoming opening and closing ceremonies at the 2028 Olympics. Being a major stadium of considerable size, SoFi Stadium features a large ceiling-mounted system of screens that wraps around an oval-shaped mounting. The 360ft x 50ft screen is constructed on the ground, then elevated and mounted to the support system on the ceiling. However, at such a height, welding to mount this structure would be difficult, time-consuming, and costly.

SOLUTION: To mount the huge screen system without welding, LNA proposed using BeamClamps to attach the screen to the ceiling’s steel support system. BeamClamps can be easily installed without the need for drilling since they clamp onto the outside of the steel components, using a screw-like body to force them together tightly. In order to achieve the slight level of malleability required to securely hold the screens, these BeamClamps were made of ductile steel. Ductile isn’t as rigid as stainless, and that minor degree of give goes a long way in keeping the clamps attached and the connection strong. Using BeamClamps also helped ensure the construction project was completed without going over budget and stayed on schedule.
